< BACK iPROLEPSIS Games Presented at the Pitch Competition during PhD Open Days Nov 7, 2024 Showcasing iPROLEPSIS Games at the PhD Open Days Pitch Competition On November 5th, Bárbara Ramalho from FMH/IST-ULisboa had the opportunity to present the iPROLEPSIS Games at the Pitch Competition during the PhD Open Days event at the Técnico Innovation Center . In her pitch, Bárbara highlighted the role of serious games in the iPROLEPSIS project, which aims to improve the care and management of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) through a personalised, game-based digital ecosystem. The PhD Open Days gave over a thousand students the chance to connect, network, and showcase their research to the academic community, industry professionals, and alumni. < BACK Transforming Psoriatic Disease Care Through Innovation and Real-World Data: GRAPPA 2025 Soapbox Highlights May 18, 2026 The article highlights how iPROLEPSIS uses digital tools, smartphone-based data and explainable AI to support personalised psoriatic arthritis monitoring The iPROLEPSIS project has been featured in a newly published article in The Journal of Rheumatology , based on highlights from the GRAPPA 2025 Annual Meeting , held in Bogotá, Colombia. During the meeting, Dr. Vasileios Charisis presented the iPROLEPSIS approach to psoriatic arthritis monitoring. The project applies digital phenotyping and explainable artificial intelligence to analyse smartphone-based data, including typing dynamics and hand motion tracking. The article describes how these digital tools may help detect functional impairments related to psoriatic arthritis. Pilot data showed promising accuracy, supporting the potential of digital biomarkers for more personalised disease monitoring and management. As projects funded under the same Horizon Europe call topic: "Personalised blueprint of chronic inflammation in health-to-disease transition", we're proud to contribute to the common goals of understanding the risk factors that trigger the transition from health to disease, providing personalised prevention measures and reducing the burden of chronic diseases. Within iPROLEPSIS , we aim to develop a suite of digital health tools designed to detect early transitions to psoriatic arthritis, predict flares for timely intervention, and provide personalised recommendations and interventions for managing the disease. With our unique consortium of 15 partners from 9 countries, we are strengthening international and cross-border collaboration to advance research, technology and health progress in Europe and beyond. < BACK Trustworthy AI in Digital Health: The iPROLEPSIS Approach Mar 28, 2025 iPROLEPSIS at Health Data Summit 2025 At Health Data Summit 2025 , organised by The European Institute for Innovation Through Health Data on March 18–19 in Brussels , Vasileios Charisis, PhD , from the Signal Processing & Biomedical Technology Unit - AUTH , presented iPROLEPSIS during the session “Trustworthy AI in Digital Health: From Guidelines to Practice”. The presentation outlined the methodology used in iPROLEPSIS to develop a trustworthy AI (TAI) framework tailored to the project’s specific needs. A case study on the Lifestyle Recommendation Engine demonstrated how it aligns with TAI principles and recommendations . The session also featured other Horizon Europe projects , including AI-PROGNOSIS, TRUSTroke, and STRATIFYHF , which presented their approaches to developing trustworthy digital health solutions . By bringing together different initiatives, the session highlighted the importance of trustworthy AI in healthcare , ensuring transparency, reliability, and ethical considerations in digital health innovations . 1/3 PREVIOUS NEXT

< BACK User Research and Co-Creation Aug 4, 2023 User Research and Co-Creation are at the core of iPROLEPSIS research process Within iPROLEPSIS , several Digital Health Tools (DHTs) will be developed with the aim to early detect the transition to PsA in PsO patients, to predict flares to allow for early intervention, and to generate personalised recommendations and personalised interventions that help manage the disease. The different DHTs to be developed are: miPROLEPSIS patient app; miPROLEPSIS healthcare practitioner dashboard; biAURA biaural sounds app; Personalised recommendation system; Personalised Gaming Suite (PGS). At iPROLEPSIS , User Research and Co-Creation form the foundation of the research process. Diverse qualitative and quantitative research methods have been employed, including interviews, observations, surveys, and usability testing, to gather data and refine our healthcare solutions. One key approach has been conducting 10 focus groups with Dutch, English, Portuguese, and Greek Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) patients . Four prominent themes emerged from the focus group discussions: Disease Activity, Coping, Care Experience, Digital Biomarkers. To obtain more specific input from a broader population of PsA patients, a survey was created. The survey consisted of 5 sections dedicated to the following: Demographics & Technological Experience ; miPROLEPSIS Patient App - Content and Appearance; BiAURA App – Preferences; Personalised Serious Gaming Suite – Content and Appearance. Key highlights of the insights gained include: Creation of a Patient Experience Map . Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) has a great impact on the life of those affected. Emotional wellbeing is highly related to the experienced disease activity fluctuating over time. The patient experience map relates the level of disease activity over time to the level of emotional wellbeing in a graph. The graph was created to empathise with our end users and indicate where our Digital Health Solutions might be able to help with improving their Emotional Wellbeing during various stages of disease. Development of User Personas . Engaging and relatable descriptions of user needs and desires, guiding user-centered design principles for our digital products. User Requirement Updates. Refinement of User Requirements for the Digital Health Tools based on focus group findings, ensuring that our tools meet the real needs of PsA patients. iPROLEPSIS is committed to advancing Psoriatic Arthritis (PsA) management through cutting-edge technology and empathetic design. < BACK iPROLEPSIS presented at the COMFORT-EU Plenary Meeting May 19, 2025 Strengthening Collaboration in AI for Healthcare Dr. Vasileios Charisis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) recently took part in the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the COMFORT-EU project (15–16 May 2025), where he presented the iPROLEPSIS project and introduced our work on a Trustworthy AI framework for healthcare. Meetings like this offer a valuable opportunity to connect with other research teams, share knowledge, and explore ways to collaborate. In the fast-evolving field of AI in healthcare , collaboration is essential — helping us learn from each other and develop better, safer solutions for real-world use.
