Prof. Leontios Hadjileontiadis on Homo sAIence: AI in health research

3 Νοε 2026

The iPROLEPSIS and AI-PROGNOSIS coordinator discusses both projects on voria.gr’s video podcast

Can smartwatch data help predict psoriatic arthritis? Can the way we type on a phone reveal signs of Parkinson’s disease or depression?

Prof. Leontios Hadjileontiadis (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, AUTH), coordinator of iPROLEPSIS and AI-PROGNOSIS, addressed these questions on Homo sAIence, Voria.gr’s video podcast on artificial intelligence.

iPROLEPSIS combines measurements at different scales: phone and smartwatch data (how people walk, sleep and type), microbiome, environment and work status. AI is used to bring these data together, and the project includes four clinical studies. The models aim to estimate the risk of moving from psoriasis to psoriatic arthritis, and to estimate flares.

AI-PROGNOSIS, the sister project, continues earlier work on how typing patterns on a phone differ in people with Parkinson’s disease.
