From Sensors to Predictive Algorithms: Real-World Digital Biomarkers of Disease Activity in Psoriatic Arthritis
On 3–5 June 2026, the European Society for Clinical Investigation (ESCI) held its 60th Annual Scientific Meeting at NOVA Medical School in Lisbon, Portugal. The meeting, themed "Research in action: building healthier futures", brought together clinical researchers from across Europe.
iPROLEPSIS was represented at the meeting with a presentation titled "From Sensors to Predictive Algorithms: Real-World Digital Biomarkers of Disease Activity in Psoriatic Arthritis", delivered by Cátia F. Gonçalves, PhD (SPR).
The presentation introduced the PDPID study – a prospective, real-world observational cohort study conducted across four European countries as part of the iPROLEPSIS project. The study investigates the use of smartphone and smartwatch sensor data, combined with patient-reported outcomes and clinical assessments, to develop digital biomarkers capable of monitoring disease activity and predicting flares in psoriatic arthritis.
